Two Spiritual Classics

At the Feet of the Master and

Meditations Being Selections from "At the Feet of the Master"

This two-in-one volume contains the full text of the spiritual classic At the Feet of the Master, written by Alcyone (J. Krishnamurti) and published in 1911. It also contains a lesser-known yet complementary collection of daily meditations (Meditations Being Selections from “At the Feet of the Master”) compiled anonymously and originally published by the Theosophical Publishing House (Adyar) in 1913.

Designed to make the spiritual teachings discussed in At the Feet of the Master part of the aspirant’s daily life, the noted theosophical author and seer Geoffrey Hodson recommended both books in his own spiritual classic, Thus Have I Heard.

Although first published more than a century ago, both books are as timely as ever, and together are a valuable source of inspiration and wisdom designed to enable readers to reach their highest spiritual potential.

About the Authors

Alcyone (J. Krishnamurti) was born in India in 1895 and was "discovered" by C.W. Leadbeater, a prominent member of the Theosophical Society. Together with his colleague Annie Besant, the second International President of the Theosophical Society, Leadbeater believed that the young man would be the vehicle through whom the Christ or the Lord Maitreya would manifest.

At the Feet of the Master  was said to have been written by the young Krishnamurti under the direction of his spiritual Master Koot Hoomi, one of the Mahatmas who inspired the founding of the Theosophical Society in 1875. Although Krishnamurti eventually decided not to accept the mantle of World-Teacher in 1929, his earliest book remains a spiritual classic, and offers practical guidance to enable aspirants to reach their highest spiritual potential. Krishnamurti would later devote the rest of his life speaking about a spiritual life based on awareness, inquiry and freedom until his death in 1986.

Meditations Being Selections from “At the Feet of the Master” contains meditations for every day of the year based on subjects discussed in Alcyone’s groundbreaking book. Created by an anonymous compiler (identified only as "A Server"), it is a powerful companion to the teachings presented in At the Feet of the Master, making it more of a vital part of one’s daily life and spiritual training.

Although written more than one hundred years ago, both books remain very timely in a fast-changing world where values like honesty, integrity, compassion and selflessness are often forgotten.
